Charity Registry

Retired NVFC Uniforms

Every year our club replaces uniforms. We must think ahead about what to do with these current & some past uniforms & equipment. One of our options would be to make them available to charity.

To that end, the club is currently looking for members with connections to charities that would have homes for no longer needed soccer items.

The club recognizes that this may or may not be logistically feasible, so at this time we are just looking at connecting with you to find out which items may be of interest to you or your organization & to see if there are other options that might fit with our club & the charitable organizations.

Please follow this link to the NVFC website and fill in your details.

Equipment Procedures

NVFC was formed through the amalgamation of three parent clubs – Lions Gate, Lynn Valley and Mount Seymour Soccer Associations.  The three clubs used different procedures to manage their soccer equipment.  NVFC has adopted best practices from all three, with the goal of managing our considerable equipment inventory in the most efficient way possible.

Going forward, the following procedures will be used for the distribution, storage and inventory of all NVFC soccer equipment.  The entire system is run by volunteers and relies on the patience, understanding and good will of all NVFC members.

1. Equipment Distribution

The bulk of equipment distribution will take place during early September, in advance of the new season.  Teams requiring replacement or exchange items can contact the equipment director at any time during the year; but should plan on attending one of the many distribution sessions at the beginning of the season.  Location and timing of these distribution sessions will be communicated through the website, and e-mail.

2. Equipment Storage

NVFC has a sizeable equipment inventory.  We have very limited storage space at Myrtle Park, which is provided by the district of North Vancouver.  In addition, many thousands of your membership dollars are spent each year on rental of storage space.  In an attempt to control these storage costs, the majority of equipment will remain in the possession of the coaches or managers throughout the offseason.  This reduces the need to rent storage lockers which are essentially empty during the season; then crammed to the ceiling during the offseason.  This was the procedure used by one of our founding clubs, as well as the Girls’ club, and has been adopted as a best practice by NVFC.

3. Equipment Returns

As mentioned, most equipment will remain in the possession of the coaches or managers throughout the year.  There will be situations, however, when a team needs to return their equipment.  Graduating from U18, no returning coaches or manager for the following year, and graduating to a new size of ball are all examples of situations where equipment might need to be returned.  Equipment returns will be coordinated in April, once all the cup games have been completed.  Again, location and timing of these return sessions will be communicated though the website, and e-mail.

4. Equipment Inventory

With equipment out in coaches’ garages throughout the year, keeping track of the inventory can be challenging.  Teams are required to fill out the Equipment Inventory Form from the website at the end of each season. (please submit just ONE form per team)  The sheet is a two-way communication device.  Not only does it allow the inventory to be tracked, but it is an opportunity for teams to communicate what new, or additional equipment they will require for the upcoming season.  With a completed inventory form, the distribution and return sessions should be relatively painless, since teams are only picking up “new” or “replacement” items.  By completing the inventory form at the end of the season, teams will be helping to ensure that only the necessary equipment will be ordered for the following season.  Waste and duplication will be minimized as a result.

5. Balls

Gravel, rain, bushes and players’ not owning up to the fact that they just kicked the ball into the trees while the coach had his back turned, are all reasons why a team rarely finishes the season with the same number of usable balls that they started with.  This is to be expected, and most teams will require a few new balls at the beginning of each season.  Correctly completing the equipment inventory form will ensure each team has enough balls for the season.  One ball per player is a reasonable amount.  In addition, each team should have at least one game ball.  Many teams have two game balls.

6. Ball Sizes

U6 – U9 use a size 3 ball.  U10 – U12 use a size 4 ball.  U13 and up use a size 5 ball.

Summarily, the efficient management of NVFC equipment requires cooperation from all teams.  Storing your teams’ equipment throughout the year, completing the “Equipment Inventory” form, and keeping abreast of upcoming distribution or return sessions are all ways in which you can help keep the system running smoothly.  Your cooperation and understanding are greatly appreciated!  Thank you.
